Human beings always got used to live in every ambiental condition. This is the thought that leads the entire project. Even if it was windy islands in the middle of the basin of Mediterranean Sea, men developed skills to transform these islands in liveble places, lot of times creating astonishing monuments. This research try to enhance the way human beings created a new habitat, always different and always the same, on these small islands of the Mediterranean Sea from the east to the west, from Dodecanneso to the Baleari, passing through Cyclades and Eolie. Archaeological finds are what we have from those ancient times as incredible witnesses of our ancestors. Most of the times the environment has been completely trasformed, but it is still possible today, between the modern buildings, to find traces of art, cults and monuments. Ancient sarcophaguses, mosaics, temple columns reused to build mediaeval fortresses seem to tell us stories of people who lived and worked here, cultivating the same vines and olives trees typical from these countries.

The images have to bring us back in centuries. They have to be in between documentation and fiction. This is the reason why the black and white technique is used.

All the prints are contact printed from 8x10 and 5x7 negatives on high quality silver gelatin paper.
